These Terms of Service govern your use of Signal Recorder SR-7, a voice recorder for iPhone, iPad and Mac with on-device transcription, titles and summaries, optional iCloud sync and, on the Mac, a markdown library and a local MCP server.
Terms summary
By downloading, installing or using Signal Recorder SR-7, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully before using the App.
1. Acceptance of terms
By downloading, installing or using Signal Recorder SR-7 ("SR-7" or "the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
2. Description of service
SR-7 is a voice recorder for iPhone, iPad and Mac. The App provides:
- Audio recording with pause, resume and a live level meter
- Typed notes
- On-device transcription with Apple's speech framework
- Titles and one-sentence summaries written by Apple's on-device models, where Apple Intelligence is available and switched on
- Playback from 0.5× to 2× with 15-second skips
- Projects, favorites and search across file names, titles, summaries and transcripts
- Optional iCloud sync across your Apple devices through CloudKit
- Import of WAV, AIFF, MP3, M4A, AAC, CAF, FLAC and ALAC audio files
- On the Mac, a markdown library with a file per recording
- On the Mac, a local MCP server for AI tools
Features may vary between platforms and OS versions.
3. System requirements
The App requires:
- iPhone: iOS 26 or later
- iPad: iPadOS 26 or later
- Mac: macOS 26 or later, on a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later)
Titles and summaries require Apple Intelligence. On-device transcription uses Apple's speech models on your device, which need storage space. iCloud sync requires an iCloud account.
4. Recordings
Each recording stops when it reaches the maximum length set in the App's settings, which can be 15, 30, 60, 90, 120 or 180 minutes and is 60 minutes unless you change it. The longest possible recording is 180 minutes.
Transcriptions, titles and summaries are generated automatically and may contain errors. Check anything important against the recording.
5. Your data and content
You retain full ownership of all recordings, notes, transcriptions, summaries and any other content you create with the App. We claim no rights to your content.
- Your recordings are stored on your device and, if you switch on iCloud sync, in your iCloud account
- We do not have access to, and cannot recover, your recordings
- You are responsible for backing up your data
- Deleting a recording moves it to Recently Deleted in the App. It stays there for 30 days and is then removed permanently, unless you empty Recently Deleted sooner. iCloud sync carries deletions to your other devices
See our Privacy Policy for complete details on data handling.
6. Recording and legal compliance
You are solely responsible for complying with all applicable laws regarding audio recording, including:
- Consent requirements for recording conversations, which vary by jurisdiction
- Workplace recording policies
- Privacy laws and regulations in your location
SR-7 is a tool; how you use it is your responsibility. We do not monitor, review or have access to your recordings.
7. MCP server (Mac only)
The optional MCP server on the Mac makes your recordings, transcriptions, summaries and notes available to AI tools on your Mac through a server that listens only on localhost.
- The MCP server is off by default and must be switched on in Settings
- You are responsible for understanding what connected AI tools do with your data
- Some AI tools may transmit data to cloud services for processing
- We are not responsible for how third-party AI tools handle your data
8. Markdown library (Mac only)
The markdown library writes a file for every recording into an "SR-7 Library" folder that the App creates in a location you choose. The App manages that folder: it overwrites changes made to its files outside the App, and deletes files in the folder that the App did not create. Do not keep your own files in it.
You are responsible for the security and privacy of the location you choose. If the folder is synced by a third-party service such as Dropbox or iCloud Drive, that service's terms apply to the files.
9. Purchase and Family Sharing
SR-7 is a one-time purchase on the App Store. One purchase covers iPhone, iPad and Mac. There is no subscription and there are no in-app purchases. Family Sharing lets up to six people in your family group use the App.
Purchases are made through Apple and are subject to Apple's terms for the App Store.
10. Intellectual property
The App, including its design, code and branding, is the intellectual property of Field Bureau & Werkstatt LLC. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse-engineer or create derivative works based on the App without explicit written permission.
The transcriptions and summaries generated from your recordings belong to you.
11. Limitation of liability
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from the use of the App, including but not limited to:
- Loss or corruption of recordings, transcriptions or other data
- Inaccurate transcriptions, titles or summaries
- A recording that stops at the maximum length you set
- iCloud sync failures or delays
- Changes the App makes to files in the markdown library folder
- Incompatibility with third-party tools connected through MCP
- Legal consequences arising from your recording activities
- Device storage or performance issues
12. Updates and changes
We may update the App and these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after updates constitutes acceptance of any changes. Updates are distributed through the App Store.
13. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. Recordings in iCloud follow Apple's iCloud data retention policies, and files in the markdown library folder stay where they are.
14. Contact
If you have questions about these Terms or the App, contact us through our contact page (opens in a new tab).
These Terms of Service are effective as of October 7, 2026. By using SR-7, you acknowledge that you have read and understood these Terms and agree to be bound by them.
